Exam prep is supplemental study material. It carries no credit hours and does not satisfy the California DRE's broker qualifying-course requirement or any continuing-education requirement. Exam prep is delivered online through our learning platform; purchase and access are completed in your online student portal. The California broker examination is applied for and scheduled separately with the DRE.

Do I need exam prep to get my California broker license?

No. The California Department of Real Estate requires the broker qualifying courses and the experience requirement — exam prep is not part of that and carries no credit hours.

It is study material, pure and simple: a way to find out what you actually know before the DRE does. Plenty of candidates use it after finishing their required courses; plenty pass without it.

What's on the California broker exam?

The broker examination is 200 multiple-choice questions and you're given 4 hours to complete it. You need to answer at least 75% of the questions correctly to pass.

Because the exam is qualifying in nature, candidates who pass aren't told their final score. If you don't pass, you'll be told your score and the percentage you answered correctly in each subject area.

Which one should I start with?

Start with the Broker Drill & Practice QBank. The Performance Tracker shows you which subject areas are costing you points, which tells you where the rest of your study time should go.

From there: add the Real Estate Math Video Library if the calculations are what slow you down, and the Terms & Definitions Audio MP3 if vocabulary is the gap — it's the one you can run through in the car.

Can I buy just one?

Yes. Each product is sold on its own — there's no bundle you have to buy into and no order you have to follow. Pick the one that matches the gap you're trying to close.

What happens if I don't pass the broker exam?

You can apply to re-take the examination once you've been notified that you didn't pass. Wait for your results before re-applying — the DRE asks you not to submit a new application or try to obtain a new exam date beforehand, and doing so can get your exam record flagged and your results withheld.

A new exam fee applies to each attempt.

How long will I have access?

Access periods are shown on each product page in our student portal before you check out, and again in your account once you've enrolled.

If you're not sure how long you'll need, get in touch before you buy and we'll talk it through.
