How to reactivate your Florida sales associate license
-
Step 1
Check your license status with the DBPR
Log in to your DBPR account at www.myfloridalicense.com to confirm your license status and exactly how long it has been involuntarily inactive. That date determines which education you need to reactivate.
-
Step 2
Confirm the education you need
- Inactive 12 months or less: complete the standard 14-hour continuing education course and renew.
- Inactive more than 12 months (but less than 2 years): complete the 28-hour FREC-approved reactivation course — that's this course.
-
Step 3
Complete the 28-hour reactivation course and pass the end-of-course exam
The course is 100% online and self-paced, so you can work through the material on your own schedule. Because it's delivered by distance education, FREC requires an end-of-course exam — you'll need a score of 80% or higher to pass. When you pass, your completion is reported electronically to the DBPR.
Don't wait! If your license stays involuntarily inactive for more than two years, it becomes null and void — and you'd have to start over with the 63-hour pre-licensing course and state exam.
-
Step 4
Renew your license with the DBPR
Once your education is complete, renew your license through your DBPR account and pay the renewal fees to return it to active status. Remember: to practice, your sales associate license must be activated under a licensed Florida broker.

What does it mean that my Florida license is involuntarily inactive?
If you don't complete your continuing education and renew by your license expiration date, your Florida sales associate license becomes involuntarily inactive. While it's inactive, you can't legally perform any real estate services that require a license.
Who needs the 28-hour reactivation course?
Florida sales associates whose license has been involuntarily inactive for more than 12 months but less than 2 years. In that window, FREC requires a 28-hour reactivation education course — instead of the standard 14 hours of CE — before the license can be reactivated.
My license has been inactive less than 12 months — do I need this course?
No. If your license has been involuntarily inactive for 12 months or less, you can reactivate by completing the standard 14-hour continuing education course and renewing with the DBPR.
What happens if my license stays inactive for more than 2 years?
A Florida license that remains involuntarily inactive for more than two years becomes null and void. At that point, reactivation is no longer possible — you'd need to start over with the 63-hour pre-licensing course and pass the state exam again. If you're approaching the two-year mark, don't wait.
Can I complete the reactivation course online?
Yes! Premier Courses' 28-hour reactivation course is delivered fully online and is self-paced, so you can complete your hours on your own schedule, from any device.
Does the reactivation course include an exam?
Yes — because the course is delivered by distance education, the Florida Real Estate Commission requires an end-of-course exam. You must score 80% or higher to pass.
If you don't reach 80%, FREC rules require you to re-enroll in the course before taking the exam again — so give the material a careful read the first time through.
How do I reactivate my license once I finish the course?
When you complete the course and pass the exam, your completion is reported electronically to the DBPR. You then renew your license and pay the renewal fees through your DBPR account at www.myfloridalicense.com to return it to active status.
Is Premier Courses approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission?
Yes, Premier Courses' 28-hour online reactivation course is approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission (School ID #ZH1003192), and your completion is reported electronically to the DBPR.

The name on your identification must match the name on your course registration.
Reporting Your Course Completion
